Where They Lived
The Haida lived in the Queen Charlotte Islands in northern British Columbia.
Their Houses
The Haida lived in plank houses made of western red cedar wood. A small house was about 6 by 9 metres and was occupied by 30 to 40 closely related family members. A large house was about 15 by 18 metres with twice as many people in it. In the centre of their houses there was a large pit under a smoke hole.
